RELIEF

Like many other Ljers, I suffer from anxiety and clinical depression. I’ve found during my four years in the world of blogs and journals that moods feed moods and depression and anxiety spirals can become a vicious cycle. I see my friends lists filled with grief and anger and sadness and frustration and it causes me to reflect on my own problems to no good end.

I also read the news and it’s nothing but a nightmare.

So I created relief. This journal is not a community as of yet because I have a specific idea of how I want it to proceed. It is a journal for good news and optimistic news only. For stories of success and happiness, love and discovery.

However it is not a place for religious witnessing or things controversially good – not because I don’t believe in religion (I do), but because it can only lead to heavy, never ending debate, insults and hurt feelings. I will delete any comments that attempt to bait posters into battle.

Is this naïve, ostrich behavior? Is this being Pollyanna sunshine? To some, I’m sure it is…but to me, it’s simply what the title implies, relief from the real word, if only for a few minutes a day.

In the future, I may give other people access to post here, if they seem to understand the general feel of the site, but I hope you enjoy what I put together until then. Please feel free to email me ideas of news stories, other journals or websites that I can post.

It is absolutely NOT a warehouse for glurge. I can't emphasize that enough. It is for tales funny, happy, surprising, cute, interesting, creative and above all stories that leave you feeling GOOD rather than worse off than two minutes ago.
